New House and New Opportunities
Things have been extremely busy for the last few weeks. My wife and I just bought new house (with a great new workshop - more on that at a later date) that we've been frantically working on getting ready before our tenancy ends and we have to move furniture in.
For the past three weeks we've been spending all day at the new house, ripping out carpets, replacing trim, sanding, painting, hanging drywall and installing hardwood floors.
Those of you that follow me on Facebook and Instagram will have seen some of the photos I've posted of the updates we've been making.
As of 9:35pm last night, all the work that needed doing before furniture could be moved in has been completed. The third coat of polyurethane was applied and now needs several days to dry before we move stuff in. That means I can slow down the house efforts and focus on other things. Like buying groceries, taking the dog for walks and making stuff out of trees again.
The housework is by no means complete. There's still the bathroom and kitchen to tackle, my workshop to winterise and countless other tasks that come with owning a home. However there will be more time now to being the focus back to other areas of our lives.
On that note, I've got some exciting new ideas, projects and events planned for the near future. The first is that I'm now offering one-on-one spoon carving tutorials in the Madison area. This is a great opportunity for anyone that wants to try spoon carving but doesn't know where to begin. All the tools and materials will be provided and by the end of the session you'll not only have a spoon you've made yourself, but the skills to continue making functional items out of green wood.
